To be fair, it is very common to be engulfed in flame the same turn you enter the volcano.

This has never, ever happened to me. I've always had a bunch of turns before even smelling sulfur.

Freed slaves will happily attack things hostile to you if they happen to bump into them. Depending on the environment, this can be exploited in fun ways.

The primary driver of acquirement has been: can the item be used. Even if it can only be used suboptimally, those wands can still be used.

Just to play devil's advocate, having a theatrical effect makes affixing a brand to a weapon a "big deal." The new scrolls are a lot easier to use, though, so changing a weapon's brand can happen a lot more often, and naturally this is less special, so the big explosions should probably go.

I just noticed that a Formicid in spider form wearing a ring of poison resistance still has poison vulnerability. Should they get double the penalty like that?

Presumably the difference is that you could go back and do Lair branches if one or more nasty uniques blocked progress in D. I'm pretty unswayed by this argument, though. Very few uniques present an insurmountable obstacle, and those that really are unbeatable can be avoided. A higher value may need...

It depends on the server. Go here and look in the right column for the server you use. It should have a "Morgues" link below it that will let you get to your morgue folder.

Hello? Stuff is constantly rotting and you're always getting hungry. Obviously the concentration of all these magical items is drawing away energy from the living occupants of the dungeon. (This also explains why nearly everything is hostile to you. They're hungry!)

That's a good outcome for you. A quarterstaff of freezing is a much more reliable weapon than one of chaos. Don't go into the mines yet. Keep to the main dungeon until you find a staircase to the Lair of Beasts. You'll usually find that easier than the mines. Bonus: your freezing staff will slow dow...

Enemies don't have MP. Antimagic inflicts a negative status on monsters that has a chance to cause them to lose a turn when they try to cast a spell. (Chance and duration based on damage dealt)

Mass confusion is also good for a hexer. I don't think the power cap is any higher than Confuse, but it can be easier to reach since mass enchantment spells get a power boost. (Plus you're casting one spell for everything in LOS)

It lasts until he offers the next one, which happens when you accrue enough piety by killing things. I wouldn't bother with sting, as battlesphere and searing ray can handle things like goliath beetles, and they're too slow to pose any kind of threat. If the name is in blue, it's either gloves with a simple enchantment (+str or +dex) or cursed. When you play a small or large species, you're going to see a lot of things you can't use. It's best to pretend such things don't exist.

Sure Blade, Invisibility, Tukima's Dance, Spectral Weapon, Leda's Liquefaction, Fulminant Prism, Silence, and Darkness are all hexes that don't target enemies.

Usually when you cast animate skeleton on a corpse, you have chunks in inventory as a result. But when this spell is being cast in lich form all the chunks are on the ground. I can't reproduce this. With or without sublimation or simulacrum memorized, I pick up chunks after casting animate skeleton...

I started a new game (HuHu) to try out the lock, but I don't think it'll be very representative. Lair on 8 and lots of lucky drops, including a potion of experience.
