Gourmand + sustenance = awesome spell spamming. Unfortunately cursed blunt weapons put a damper on to that. But Animate Skeleton saves the day until you find a scroll (which I have yet to do)

I would use the buckler until you get to skill level 15, at which point you should switch to Bullseye.

I don't know about armor by I know that for Shields you want to bring your skill up to 5/15/25 to eliminate penalties for bucklers, shields, and large shields respectively. With the new system, though, wouldn't it be better if I just pull it out to get some initial experience into the skill and then let the experience filter in slowly and automatically until I can use it without penalty?
