Re: Which existing spellbook might be a good new starter?

Look, the point I was trying to make was that Paladins if they were reintroduced to the game would get piety a lot faster than before. This was my own assumption of what I know of the game, which is to say “very little”. How it could be so heavily misinterpreted is beyond me, but if I did step on so...

Re: 6 Questions

Personally, I prefer the ASCII interface to the webtiles interface. Once I learned what all the symbols meant, I found that it was easier for me to take in at a glance what was on the screen - but your mileage may vary. I'll concede that Webtiles has a nicer mouse interface, though. Putty is pretty...

Compared to 1-2 piety in the old versions? 4 piety * before Lair still pretty good, lot better then some gods.

Re: Which existing spellbook might be a good new starter?

Paladins aren't even unusually good at killing ghosts until 5*. And even then, Be isn't much worse at it, if at all. In addition, I don't think that ghosts are a serious threat by then, either. I was thinking bout gaining piety faster in Webtiles. I was under the impression Paladins was axed partly...

Hello DCSS lovers Fairly new player here (started just at the end of 0.8 sometime around Okt-Dec 2011). I´m ussally not into Roguelikes, more of a Diablo 2/Din´s Curse kinda player, but as an ole (A)D&D player this game has everything I want – and it plays more like a hybrid Roguelike/ARPG. Just...

If your builds depend so much on swamp dragon armour, you might want to rethink your builds, just saying. You are absolutely right. DCSS forces me to learn other ways, not to mention learning humbleness (no luck there tho :p). I´m still way to stubborn, but I gave the Swamp armour dependency up qui...

Not sure if it’s a serious question or who you’re asking. But if it’s me, no I haven´t put much thought into it. I noticed that eating poisonous food (without rP+) was removed and with DCSSs very adaptable and situational use of skills/spells/items I thought that casting cure poison on poisonous foo...

I used to be an avid Diablo 2 player. Then I took an arrow to the knee and tried D3 for a ten-day. With Diablo 3 Blizzard has gone from being a top PC-game producer that sets the bar for other companies on how to make video games, to one of the most ridiculed ones (error 37 anyone?). They´ve created...

Hello fellow DCSS players. I’ve written down some questions that I can´t seem to find an answer to in the usual manner (Forums, Manual, Tutorial, Google etc.) over the course of a couple months. Re: Mountain Dwarf proposal...sorry, I just have to

I think the real issue are DDs. Any new race is gonna be severely gimped compared to DDs, like this new version of an MD/Shield Dwarf. I don´t believe DDs needs to be shafted, just nerfed. The suggestion was made but never replied too; reduce DDs dmg absorb by unmodified EV penalty.

I just had one of the most fun runs (although no win) with a HOPr L19 but the mid HOPr game became as always a sheer exercise in micro- and anger-management. Re: Crawl things I don't get.

Fleeing in Everquest (and other MMORPGs I'm sure) was monumentally bad, because the fleeing monster would chain aggro on the rest of the dungeon and you could get a big "train" of monsters on top of you. I would make a fleeing monster effect a scroll of noise at the player's location when...

Been playing the latest 0.11 builds as often as I can and also noticed a tone down on the amount of early unique´s from 0.10, which I think is really good for us crappy players since 0.10 was extremely hard in that regard (again for me as a really crappy player which is why I avoid 0.10). Nerf DDs damage reduction to be affected by the (unmodified) Evasion Penalty. This would make DD´s using heavier armours reduce the damage reduction to the point of actually negating it. Maybe it´s just me but I feel DD´s are superior heavy armour users to every other race in the game making new rac...
