rMut is about the 843rd reason to take Zin IMO. If you're taking Zin because you're afraid of mutations, you're bad at Zin.

For real, just make a negative breath draconian if it's that important. I hate having every xl 7 asshole who died with a couple of annoying spells as a draconian being the most dangerous thing by far on a level.

I always felt that the primary use for Imps as a wizard is dealing with adders. Or just them getting poisoned so you don't have to in general.

Xom also usually gives you 2-3 different types of scales, a couple of natural resistances otherwise, and a random grab-bag of 6-12 good mutations otherwise with maybe one or two bad ones mixed in by the end of a game. I don't think that changing how scales/"covering" mutations work current...

I'm fine with the list as is, I just find it kind of funny that Human falls under "Intermediate" rather than "Simple." While harder to win with than the races in the "simple" category, they are arguably the simplest race in the game.

I've always thought MR+ might be a more interesting side effect of !brilliance than !resistance. As it stands, the potion is functionally useless on heavy armor/melee types that are only going for 3 runes.

Why? They are removed simply for gaining piety(IE basically doing anything) under this change. To be more accurate, dealing with them in a timely fashion becomes awkward. Yeah, ninja always seemed cool because of the sheer number of weapons they could use, but low level black magic is just worse than low level white magic, and they just can't do anything else as well as one of the classes that specializes in it. And before the class upgrade, thief was just even worse.

Any effect that has is probably pretty negligible, because I can think of any number of times that I acquired a weapon and got a two-hander when I was already using a shield at or near the "appropriate" skill level for it.

I always thought of it more as a "while I'm here" sort of thing more than doing it intentionally. Lugonu excepted, of course.

ETA: Well, when tele ring still worked in Abyss and was evokable, it was a legit choice. But since then, not really so much.

Heh. First time I ever beat that game was with EdgeFigaro's 3 Fighters and a Red Mage tactic.

Much later I got it on my phone and tried to make Red Mage, Thief, White Mage, Black Mage work. It was brutal. I think I eventually made it to Tiamat and then my phone died and I gave up on it.

I honestly think that if you enjoy scumming pan/abyss, there are way bigger problems with you than there are with the game design at that point. That isn't to say that Pan couldn't use some streamlining, but I've got better things to do with my time than spend it needlessly in the two most annoying ...
