Yes, jellies eat doors and none of the items. You can shoot them with whatever. Shields still lower your attack speed. It's the armour slowing your unarmed attacks that got removed (quite a while ago).

Except Transmutation ban is the very Zin theme? Also, you're allowed to use clouds IIRC. You only get penance if you damage something with the negative energy ones, and for that, you'd need high evo anyway.

Lee's Rapid Deconstruction can destroy rock walls at mere 35 power. That said, don't bother. There's some loot behind these walls and nothing of importance, and you should just get the rune and get out in Tar:7.

I agree, though having polearms higher feels weird. I'd flatten all their apts to -1 now, with maybe UC at 0. That would be in line with their ranged apts, and also with the idea that ogres are bad at using tools.

Put on the boots, they are near-guaranteed to be non-bad, and very likely to be good. You may drop the dagger and spear, these are useless for you. With M&F at 6-8 I'd start putting 33% of exp into dodging.

Crawl allies 101: don't let hydras attack, make them walk next to your dudes. Works not only with mushrooms.

Animate Dead kills them easy. That's one of the reasons Kiku is better for SpEn than Dith (breaking news: spriggans don't need more stealth than they already get for super-cheap). Also nets, but that is like 100x less reliable than Just Going Kiku™

Run with a debugger (for example: gdb crawl), set a breakpoint in player::hurt (b player::hurt in gdb), then go and fight. "amount" variable is the amount of damage. Note that it can get modified later in the Attack class functions and by "fineff" effects.

If you ask for something similar to HE people will suggest species that play more or less the same. Obviously some traits are different, these are different species after all. But do these particular traits are more important than the gameplay?
