You can *+W and *+A as shortcuts for using ctrl+W and ctrl+A. I believe that works with any of crawl's commands that use control.

try killing orb of fire and orb run without any source of haste.

orbs of fire are easy to kill without haste, and a felid with extra lives, fast movement, and access to god abilities can't reasonably claim to have trouble on the orb run because of lack of haste.

Yeah, was only -10% HP. On the other hand it had only about 165 max HP with 26/12/4 defenses in statue form, which sounds fun! Max str seemed to be 3 for a lot of the run as well.

I sounds like you need to update your sources.list to the 0.18 component. Make sure your sources.list entry for the crawl repo is: deb https://crawl.develz.org/debian crawl 0.18 My guess is that 0.18 is currently 0.17 in your case. Then you should be able to apt-get update and install crawl-tiles.

For 1, sorry, you can't override the form tiles currently. For 2, you can set it to normal, as in "tile_player_tile = normal", per the documentation of that option in the options guide.

To that album I added two additional splash images I found at the end of my stream (Fannar with Ice Magic and Sigmund's Smile), and gave the images proper titles with artist attribution, based on the file names. You might want to update your post to refer to the new ones.

This option got accidentally removed in a recent commit, but it's been re-added. All the north-american and european servers save CDO have trunk updated for this fix. Hopefully that will fix things for you!
