Found Elven Halls. There was an Elven welcoming party, a lot like Tomb:2. Stairdanced a few and then decided to hell with it. Those elves were a bit too much in higher numbers for the tier 2 bonus.

I was surprised by how good Naga are in melee. Obviously, positioning is an issue, but when you're beating on something with all that HP AND you're constricting, things die pretty fast.

Okay, good to know. I went ahead and enchanted the velocity bow. Two runes in and wondering how high I should train crossbows? I have crossbows at 18.1 and UC at 19.9. Do crossbows have a min delay like weapons, or is it like UC in that you see good benefits all the way to 27?

Oh really? Awesome. Oka has been gifting me bolts like crazy and since I usually go with UC, I have ammo a plenty.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Also, how does wielding a Shield affect UC and crossbows? Can you even use a shield with crossbows?

I had to take 5 days off because of a trip to Colorado. If I don't have the character done exactly then will it not count? I finished Orc and I'm working on it, but it's a busy week. This character has the right stuff, I've just gotta keep it together.

I didn't find any jewelry until Lair:2, but my first ring was +Fly, rF, rN, Dam+4 so my patience paid off. Oka has been showering me with ammo, so I'm feeling pretty set for a while.

Those boots are absolutely amazing. Plus 6 is an insanely high enchantment for boots, elec is one of the rarest resistances and running is the best thing in the game. Made it to Lair. I had to take a break for 5 days because of a ski trip in Colorado, but I'm back. Got a scroll of acquirement and got 100+ bolts of penetration and Oka gifted me some Silver bolts too. Didn't find Oka until D9 though, which was frustrating. Oh well. I'm XL11 and 82% on my way to 12....

New Abyss is undoubtedly more difficult. Its definitely survivable at XL19 but its also very possible to die.

Abyss is also the area (along with Hell... and Pan to an extent) where even really good tactics can fail you because of the randomness.

What should I be picking for stat boost? Str/Dex/Int? If I remember correctly, crossbows get more of a bonus from Str than Dex. I plan on mostly going xbows + unarmed, though I might go into some casting on the side.

I like Vault entirely on flavor alone. I've always preferred organized, almost castle-type settings to jungles and bogs and stuff. Vault doesn't just look all chrome and shiny, it really feels like it was built to be a fortress with guard houses everywhere protecting a treasure in a safe at the bot...

I've actually never had problems with Forest. I've always found it really easy for some reason. Air Mages and Enchanters can be rough and Assassin's just constantly running away is annoying, but otherwise it wasn't so bad. The new Crypt on the other hand... Going into Elves should be fine as long as you don't go to Elf:3. Your MR is pretty low.

I always go Abyss > Tomb > Pan > Hell. I hate the Abyss, but it's usually the easiest. I'm really bad at reading the console version, but did you use Passage to Golubria to get closer to the simulacra? If so, the most important thing to remember about playing a SpEn is that you rarely need to fight anything. Especially melee only monsters.
