would you pump strength for the orange crystal plate armour?

As a pure caster Djinn Conjurer ^ Makhleb, I spotted the Orange Crystal Plate Armour in a shop. I've been optimising for Int, so I think I can't realistically use it this run, which is a pity because all my spells are at <1% fail rate (and I can't race for higher level spells because I'm a Djinn). A...

Re: Stealth - revisited

I really like this proposal.

I really enjoy sleep stabbing stuff, but in the late game sleep stabs are often unwise because you can end up in the middle of a pack of chasing monsters. With this proposal you could escape from those situations more easily, provided you invest enough into stealth.

Steam Dragon form is actually quite desirable, because of the implied evocable fog (steam) It would max out at the armour bonus of a XL3 draconian (+5) so it could possibly be ok balance-wise Interactions between armour and forms like the OP suggests would be cool (but only if they can't be gamed to...

I'd have gone with the crystal plate. It's amazing in the late game if you dump all your enchant armour scrolls on it, and a staves FoFi shouldn't have any trouble surviving the early game. Also you can expect to find a couple (~3) lajatangs every 3rune game.

Seems Ash in version 0.27-a0-463 is most useful for combat mages. I don't think there's an issue with Dex rings being better than EV rings in the late game. It fits the pattern of crawl.
