Re: CIP MiBe (yes, another one)

That crossbow of velocity will be very good once you have 14 skill in it. You can go higher than that, of course, but 14 skill levels will give you a very solid ranged attack. I just went into Wizmode really quick to test, and at this point, for your character you'll get slightly less than 1 EV per ...

it's wrong because wielding a ration doesn't make the clone deal 0 damage Indeed, but it does make the clone do *less* damage. Many superstitions have some tiny rational kernal to them, after all. Well, literally running away would have been bad, obviously, but scroll of tele would have been a good bet. Storm dragons are WAY beyond the pay grade of pretty much any level 15 character. They are faster than average (not just faster than Nagas of Chei) and hit hard. A few slouches might have been...

It is really too early to tell whether abandoning Trog and going extended is viable. Trog's wrath is no joke, and you can't really train magic while worshiping him. If you are dead-set on at least giving this a try, though, I'd probably recommend Ashenzari. By the time you make the switch, most of t...

Any comments on UP/OP for what the hypothetical Elf Mix would end up as? :geek: It would basically be just as powerful as a High Elf or Deep Elf currently is. Elf 3 is always optional, and it tends to be very dangerous for melee characters. I'm glad you made it, but consider that next time. It is generally something that (especially for melee dudes) you do second or third to last, just before Zot, or else just skip entirely. Since you didn't specify, I as...

I'd actually forgotten until I just checked—not only did gladiators use to start with a buckler (they don't anymore), they also used to start with a few levels in Unarmed Combat, in addition to their starting weapon and a few skill points in that weapon type. I found this very amusing.

Yes, V_Jack is right. You don't have to level any skills, it will get better naturally as your character level goes up, at 15 it becomes permanent (though you can toggle flight on and off).

It seems funny now that when we made the aptitude scale coarser (from percentage based, with steps of 5 to the current -5...+5 scale) we were afraid that it might be too coarse but in reality it might be too fine still :) I might have overstated slightly. The whole reason why dpeg's take on this theme is interesting, at least to me, is that it would give an option for Felids, etc., to have full body slots. Without that the idea is a bit bland honestly, because... "woo hoo, I'm in water, just got a sweet +3 EV and small speed boost" is not a...

I'm pretty sure 'strongest' could be approximated by finding the highest level spell they can use, and randomly choosing one in the event of a tie. I said "Clear before getting 6th rune" because I feel that's what I usually do, but it really depends. Generally I will go ahead and do Zot 5 before Pan and Hell, because Zot 5 tends to be the most dangerous area of the game overall (outside of Ziggurats) and if I'm planning to spend sever...
