Trying a range-focused High Elf Warper build

Following the recent removal of ammo enchantment, I've decided to give ranged combat a shot. The AM doesn't appeal to me so much, but doing a tloc-focused archer seems great, what with good escapes, Portal Projectle, and tele-kiting. I've been rolling HEWrs, going Oka, and picking up a bow from the ...

Re: Long Blades, M&F effect brainstorm

With that in mind, it seems like a stun/confuse effect with M&F would lead to a huge number of stupid player deaths, especially early on.

Perhaps if reasonably high evocations is required for a good rod-casting success rate, it could also mitigate the hunger effects a bit. Currently the food cost of rods seems way greater than that of spells and invocations.

Re: Feedback on Trunk deployment (.11)

I think I might have found a minor bug with Okawaru piety gain. I'm killing monsters with a randart hammer {drain, rElec, rPois, rC++} and often don't get the "Okawaru accepts your kill." message. At first I thought this might be related to the draining effect but it seems to happen equall...

You can't wear the amulet of stasis while doing this because without Haste/Swiftness you will die. The spacial distortion is a liability, but so is not being able to outrun Cerebov. Keep on Haste, Swiftness, Ring of Flames, and Deflect Missles. Use Flight too if you need to fly over things. You can ...

YAVP: DSWz 6 runes (First Ever Win)

Here's my first ever win, 6 runes with a Demonspawn Wizard of Vehumet. The RNG was pretty good to me this time. I got the protection from freezing clouds mutation quite early (just pre-lair), and found the book of clouds around the same time. The indiscriminate Freezing Cloud spam this allowed took ...

Basically, he'll occasionally drop a couple enemies, usually various types of warriors and giants near you until your penance runs out. You should be able to kill a good portion of them, but keep some solid escape options around at all times in case you get a titan or the like.

Makhleb Casts from HP

While playing trunk, I noticed that Makhleb's abilities take HP now instead of MP, and, to my dismay, Deep Dwarves still pay the full cost. This seems to significantly nerf his abilities, as they can no longer be spammed without endangering oneself. However, some builds might be able to turn this to...

[CIP] Chei to Ashenzari?

Cheibriados was really good earlier in the game, but now that I have higher spell skills and Carnivore 1, I don't need the +Int so much, and Slouch just doesn't hit as hard (comparatively) as it did on D:10. Plus, I keep getting into frightening tight spots due to extreme slowness and inability to l...

Re: Rescale the Magic Crosstraining Penalty

Having to choose between opposing elements would work better if the choices were more interesting. Fire is basically an all-in for Firestorm and Ring of Flame. Conjure Flame is good but requires virtually no Fire training if you have Conjurations, which most casters do. On the other hand, Ice has a ...

[CIP] DDEEof Kiku, trapped outside Lair by killer bees

Here's a Deep Dwarf Earth Elementalist I've been playing. The plan was to start with Earth Magic and later branch into Necromancy with Kiku in order to have a broader range of spellcasting options than the standard DDNe. It's worked pretty well so far -- I was lucky enough to get Carnivore 1 early o...
