You need more than half your available armour slots to be cursed. For a spriggan, that means 3 out of 4 (robe, cloak, cap, shield).

Fast transformations don't anger Chei, they just keep the ponderousness from their melded armour.

If you can get Leda's Liquefaction up and running that might work nicely as a reverse Haste while you spam conjurations at things.

Considering that Nightstalker and Demonic Guardian are the only facets that actually have an unavoidable effect on your game (and both are Tier 2 so you'll probably see at least one level of them fairly early), I'm not sure I agree that there are all these racial mutations that'll cripple your plays...

Adding another Fear-causing spell when the existing Hex is already weak and underused doesn't seem like a great idea. Maybe AM deserve to at least get Portal Projectile, though.

Pain is best on fast weapons, and you can't get slower than a scythe (they also have bad base damage). Nice resists at least.

It's useless and has basically zero chance of ever charming anything good.

Iron Shot isn't necessary unless you plan on doing extended endgame - Poison Arrow will wreck everything in Zot just fine (except electric golems and orbs of fire, but you should probably just run away from those anyway).

The best brands for a quick blade are the additive brands, since it has low base damage. As of recent trunk builds, monsters get an AI boost (better pathfinding, knowing where you are when invisible, never forgetting about you). I don't think anything decreases the penance yet either so that'll just happen forever, until proper wrath is implemented.

Anti-magic is currently broken in that it works on stuff like orbs of fire and electric golems so I would definitely keep it around. The katana's base damage is probably sufficient that it'd be pretty great.

The enemies in Elf carry loads of bucklers, and it can often be worthwhile to dip in and kill a few enemies on the first floor to try and get one. But as an unarmed character you don't usually want a buckler/shield unless you find a good artefact, as it prevents you from using your offhand attack.
