Re: Revise the rules for Polymorphing

I think a problem with Polymorph is that it shuts down enemies with equipped weapons (and particularly ranged weapons) a bit easily; as a Centaur earlier today I ran into an Orc Warrior who had a bow. I polymorphed it over and over, stepping away every other turn. It became a dwarf, a centaur, a hum...

Also since we're adding merit to a pointless topic, why do orc sorcerers have staffs in tiles if all they ever carry are maces, axes, and hammers? Would it be too deadly to allow them to carry quaterstaffs after some point? Both to bring the tile a little more in line with reality and to allow anot...

Re: Weapon brand idea: Force (aka elephant trample)

This comes up a lot, and it occupies the strange space of being a good idea and a bad idea at the same time. The main problem is that it's a net negative for the player. Knocking an enemy back is fine sometimes, but stepping toward an enemy will give it a free hit on you. This is worse in group situ...

What about armor ego types that could be evoked to turn you into different forms? Another alternate to the "magic dampening" concept is something that simply absorbs miscast effects (be they from miscast, zot trap, glow, whatever) and bestows temporary -Cast or saps MP at the same time. I would really, really love to see ricocheting sling bullets. This is an existing br...

Brainstorming new brands/egos

I forget which thread someone mentioned it in, but the game could definitely handle some more brand/ego diversification. One thing I thought of was something like "magic dampening" as an armor ego, which would protect against "Glow" status somewhat: it would "absorb" ne...
