Re: Buffing Trolls

When looking and playing with trolls I noticed that they appear to become somewhat underpowered (falling behind) from about level 5 and up. I think it's a great feature that trolls have a simple early game and encounter a few problems later on. they just aren't that insanely easy. I'm not a big fan...

Re: Proposal: Rework Item Destruction

I agree that something should be done about sticky flame, so that I would use some armour other than MDA... MDA grants good AC with an almost nonexistent penalty to EV and spell success rates. In my opinion it is probably too strong of an item for those reasons; enchanting a mottled dragon hide, sh...

Re: Formicids

I just finished a 3 rune FoTm of Chei. More feedback: Spectators were constantly asking about 4-hand extra UC aux attacks, 4-handed Blade Hands, 4x rings, Unarmed with a shield and no shield delay, etc. I don't think that Formicids need any of those things or that they would be a good idea to add (U...

Re: Oklobs and plants.

Instead of adding a line of description to Oklobs or Fedhas, you could add one to Plants themselves. There is already a line in the description of Bushes specifically noting that they do *not* block line of fire -- you could add something similar to the description of Plants stating explicitly that ...

Re: Formicids

First and foremost, thanks to pubby for making this patch. I've just finished playing a game on CSZO's Formicid branch, and I found it to be both fun! and very close to properly balanced. As a point of comparison to other candidate races: I have previously won a Djinni with all skills at 27, and a 3...

Re: New Species: Gargoyle

And it's the worst spell in the game by far. I strongly disagree with this statement. Cure Poison allows you to conserve !curing to be used in the event of Rot, and as such is useful as a strategic choice in advance if you intend to do Tomb, the Hells, or Crypt in your current game. Cure Poison als...

Re: Escaping from the unescapeable?

Yes, there are circumstances that cause unavoidable death but that waveform collapses (for me at least) somewhere in the lair. I find that this tends to occur around the D:4 to D:5 area, sometimes slightly later with weaker combos. Around that point you tend to have found a few escape options and s...

just call them [s]hymenopterids[/s] formicids for consistency and be done with it, we already have felids and octopodes

Re: YAD - Implojin doing tomb on the orbrun

You can call it YASD like it actually was.

78096 | Tomb:2 | Implojin: i clearly need to add a force more on you feel strangely unstable

It would be nice if tele status were bright flashing orange instead of lightblue like everything else on that line, though.

Re: Discussion: Improving Okawaru

A caveat that I think some of these proposals have missed: Any changes to Okawaru's ability set that require the player to engage on a metalevel in things like: full floor clears, large partial floor clears, or avoidance/delay of taking downstairs, are strictly worse than the status quo for the god....

Re: Discussion: Improving Okawaru

I have taken the liberty of drafting a small proposal. Goals: The goals of the changes contained within are to: 1) Reduce player tedium by removing the need to activate Heroism before every fight. 2) Increase the meaningful choices available to the player while using this god. (Namely, b...

Re: Discussion: Improving Okawaru

There is no mutual exclusion between expanding upon the theme of Okawaru granting bonuses for quick, decisive battles, and the idea of rebalancing his gifting to be more impactful. Currently, Okawaru's play offers one tactical choice and two strategic gains in practice. As minmay pointed out, Herois...

Re: Discussion: Improving Okawaru

Okawaru's current image as the god of trinkets I think most people like the idea of a god who gift shiny toys and are disappointed by the quality of Okawaru's gifts. The primary gameplay reasons to take Okawaru in his current incarnation are his skill boost and finesse effect. Gifting is ancillary....
