How much does a speed brand reduce damage by? Is it literally 1/2?

Bots don't say precisely, as far as I can tell. (though it could just be me being blind...) :geek:

How do you name your characters?

Didn't see this one asked anywhere and I was interested in a random etymology study. ;) This thought came after I've seen a couple of first time new name characters survive in wacky fashions, only to see a certain name die time after time. Which led me to the paranoid delusion of wondering whether t...

Gotta get the Accuracy/Damage bonus. Oh yeah, sorry, it was a -1, +1 staff. Not exactly inspiring, but I've seen worse. Obviously I dropped it since this was on an Ashenzari Vampire character using Short Blades (and I already have rF+++, two things with MR, and I've cleared Orc, so that + Mutagenic...

New update; just cleared Vault 8. I was surprised by the big ring of Vault Guardians, but defeated them handily in just three stairdances. I think picking up the +15 Fixedart shield Bullseye from a Bazaar really helped. The main problem was actually having to ensure Deflect Missiles and Regen were u...

Personally, I go with the idea of Mario World like 'Checkpoints', using the following rules: ⋅  No checkpoints prior to Temple being found. The difficulty of the start is sacred; and if you can't even make it even that far, chances are this character might well be a bust anyway. This takes...
