This is the last relevant commit I could find about gozag's shops, if something changed aftwerwards I don't know.

However yes my experience too is that there is a very high variance and shops called earlier may have some better gear than later one.

I believe shadow mimic initially could trigger on things like Ensorcelled Hibernation or needle of sleeping, which is definitely a bad effect.

About archery: they are +4 slay to missiles.

There aren't other bonuses in the game provided by equipment that are better than +4 slay. Doubly so for missiles as you get usually get more damage before an enemy can retaliate.

Those randart gloves are good but nothing close to +4 slay.
