Just started a demonspawn monk and worshipped at a d:3 unknown altar... Got Jiyva. Now I'm on d:3 with *** Jiyva piety. So, seems like it will be a weird game and i don't wanna screw it up. How can I best take advantage of this situation?

River rats work well in sewers, but have nothing special in the Lair, and I also find them kinda boring. Maybe they could inflict sickness? There could also be some "wailing rat" or somesuch that can hasten the others, and call in bigger, badder foes while the PC is swamped by little rats...

dunno, today i got spider end with at least 3 ghost moths, just said "fuck it i hate this" and tabbed myself to death. definitely doable with a lot of summons and consumables, but sometimes when crawl wants to kill you, you just say, ok, crawl

i don't mind ghosts in terms of gameplay but i really would like to stop seeing offensive ghost names. i don't care whose ghost i am fighting, and the effect of player-named ghosts in online games is just to allow players to look up the logfile for the ghost in question anyway, which doesn't seem id...

Rework or Replace Monk

The two defining features of the Monk background have nothing to do with each other... Unarmed, and Piety boost. Rename Monk to "Devout" or something, and give them a weapon choice (including unarmed) like every other melee background. That's all. :geek:
