Having a couple of 'free' summons and hanging back might well be worth it. Especially with the recent removal of staves of energy ( :cry: )

Your gear isn't particularly good, but it's understandable for this phase of the game. I'd probably use the +10 artefact sword instead of the +1 great sword - it's true you don't benefit from being a formicid ability to wield a 2hander 1handed, but the extra accuracy would be really helpful. The flip side could be that the skill requires light armour to work, allowing for heavier ones as it increases, or will be broken by loud/flashy spells (again, higher levels could allow you to dampen those). A staff of energy does a lot more than MPregen+ though. MRregen+ gives 0.2 mp/turn, whereas a staff of energy gives about 2mp/turn (just guessing based on what it felt like). ah sorry. I didn't realise there was a closed door on the other side.

You can also summon Imps and try to get them to open the door whilst out of your LOS.

Probably I'd go with the *drain -Tele item though.

This proposal sounds quite similar to the hell-crawl clock.
I hate that clock. One of the main reasons I don't play Hellcrawl very often.

You can try burning the trees, but you might well have to give up on this rune. There's usually stone behind the trees. In this situation I'd probably decide to get Abyss / Slime after your 2nd rune.

When I play Wu I tend to wirlwind all the time, because you can deal damage whilst slowly backing away, and you can deal pseudo-cleaving damage. The only positional disadvantage is not being able to use kill-holes. TBH this does really hurt, taking 2x damage whilst dealing 1.6x damage isn't very goo...

I can't see any reason to prefer min(5, 2 + pow / 100 + random2(pow / 50 + 1)) over min(5, 2 + div_rand_round(pow, 100) + random2(div_rand_round(pow, 50) + 1)

I think I like 1 + random2(div_rand_round(pow, 25) + 1) most. It's nice when some spells scale quadratically with spellpower.
