certainly free chunks are vastly preferable, but I would think that being down nearly 150 hp would make it worth trying to get some of cured with other means...I guess it depends on how much healing you have. Probably not worth potions, maybe if you had several wands or a wand + recharging scrolls.....

If you're having trouble hitting things, try focusing on fighting earlier on. It will increase your accuracy, and you can raise it while using axes for more hits, and then when you switch to bows, it will still benefit you. Granted, mapping stairs and portals is useful for shaving turns off, I suppose I wasn't thinking of it from a speedrunning perspective when I wrote the above :)

Hitting harder per turn is important for turncount, so having +15 str is better then having more attacks. Small correction - slowness is actually 20% per mutation, so it would be 2 in 10, or 20% from range.

For winning all of your trivial pursuit dungeon crawl games, a naga of chei at max piety has the equivalent of slowness 8 on a normal speed race. It's still winnable ;)

Ah, you're right, just checked his character screen and not the inventory, they were both cursed. In any case, you're right, with the brilliance first, then the remove curse, he'd have lived.

When in danger always check your entire inventory and don't act quickly!

is the rate at which skill exp slows down based on your total skill exp, or character level? If it's based on your character level, then slow level races will have an easier time training skills, and 100-120 races would have less time to compensate for low aptitudes...

I've updated the guide a fair amount, the main changes are no longer emphasizing Monks as a background, and to strongly recommend statue form as the best transmutation to use.
