It seems like a concern that wands of haste/heal wounds can have practically limitless charges, meaning there's not much reason to be conservative in using them. If vamp is freely swappable it might become optimal to start every fight with another weapon and then swap to it when injured, which would be bad. Can't you take damage and heal with vamp on the same turn? The turn it takes to swap would negate an advantage you get from having the first strike with...

Oh yeah, the most notable thing about this game was that I had sacrifice evocations and earth magic, so in order to get the slimy rune I needed to drag a deep troll earth mage all the way from depths to slime 6. Stupid troll almost died on the slime walls too...

Vampiric weapon prevents spamming rods, blowguns and launchers, there is no enough food to ignore the cost. Vampiric brand does not need a buff IMHO. I would argue that having a vampiric weapon mostly means that ranged spam is unnecessary, so that there's plenty of food for conservative rod/launche...

Personally, after I've autoexplored the level, I always check if there's any upstairs left I haven't taken (and if yes, I go and take them), before I proceed down. So I wouldn't like autoexplore to automatically go downstairs. In some areas I also want to possibly cast some buffs before going downs...

What if, instead of telling you that a level was fully explored, autoexplore took the nearest unused down staircase? Autoexplore+tab could then proceed without that troublesome G+> interruption

Let's say you've got +0 demon blade, +0 double sword, 9 scrolls of EW, 1 scroll of brand weapon.

Personally I'd enchant the demon blade (it will benefit more from other slaying or aux attacks if I have any), but I really don't think there's much difference between the two.

I think it would be better if the corpse armor was permanent, with a spell power dependent chance for pieces to fall off with each attack affected by AC. It would obviously need to have diminishing returns per corpse as the accrued AC bonus increased.
