yeah i could really do without potions of brilliance or agility

bah and i lost it trying to tackle the slime pits. first time i've been in slime since the walls became acidic...and i got confused to death by golden eyes. adding clarity to the list of resistances i need for slime...

i actually appreciate the chance to score great equipment early...just pulled a +4 robe of magic resistance off of sigmund the other day!

Any advice on what base I should have used to make my distortion weapon with? Obviously a quick blade would have been killer- but I wasn't sure what to go with in leu of that. first of all, check this out regarding play order. your skills look great, stealth and stabbing won't help you in the later game and will just be a waste of XP. you should wear the robe of positive energy, as it provides a resistance. you can drop the others. find a helmet, cloak, gloves, and boots!...

quaff potions you don't know to identify them I advise against this. A single potion of mutation can ruin your entire game if you're unlucky. Just use the scrolls of identify for potions. most of the time you will be safe just skipping the floor and returning later. if there is something you see that you don't want to leave behind drop down to the next floor and come up another set of stairs so the baddie has time to meander away
