The few times I have used Yara's, it always seems to do minimal damage to the enchanted monster but more to its surrounding. It seems a waste of spell slots even if you happen to have both schools trained.

What is the chance of banishment compared with other status effects? From the sounds of it, the problem is that banishment has a high chance of occuring at a part of the game where you wouldn't neccessarily have sources of MR+ availbale, whereas other effects like paralysis occurs later in the game ...

Surely the simpliest "fix" would be to make it so gifts don't cost piety. Gifts need piety to be gained, but don't take any away from the player; a faster gain would give faster time between gifts, which was how I assumed it worked in the first place.

The exact spellpower of a spell is one of the few things you can work out easily in crawl. I don't see a problem with trees being digable, except perhaps to make swamp slightly different. Or perhaps change wands of disintegration to blow up trees. Possibly a more enjoyable solution than changing vaults.

I think the problem is that falling for 3 floors in the early dungeon is a bit extreme. Especially when you might have alread been shafted or skipped a level due to a dangerous unique or situation. It can feel very unfair. Perhaps limit shaft drops to 2 floors at least for the early dungeon.

What is the damage difference in percentage? For the most part playing a melee character, I find lvl 15 shields in the game blocking about half the attacks. Then again in the later parts of the game for shields don't block most of the deadliest attacks.

I agree. If monsters are not to spawn after level generation, then there is no reason for piety decay. Reduce rate of piety gain to compensate.

I think in one of the patches, the sling and greatsling got +2 damage and the ammo damage got -2, so the total is the same. Sling went from 5 to 7 and greatsling from 8 to 10. I don't see a problem with useless items. It's a problem that is a non-problem. In fact, don't crawl purposely create useless items? It could be bias but I notice massive amounts of runed armour when playing as an octopode for instance.
