Why would it be laggy? Sure, you'd need to transmit more data than for console (the ID of each tile instead of just one character) but still not very much.

Can vaults be serial-only?

I'm making a serial vault composed of small ponds. There are about 50 different vaults, so even with WEIGHT: 1 they will be generated normally quite frequently - which I don't want. But WEIGHT: 0 or null depth just prevents them from being placed altogether.
Is there any way to prevent vaults from being generated randomly while still allowing them to be used in a serial vault?

In 0.7 and up demon tridents become trishulas (which are slightly better) when blessed. However, you will lose the speed brand for holy wrath, and speed is nearly always better. On the other hand, TSO's other abilities remain borderline overpowered in Hell and Pan. I'd say you could go either way.

Leave Short Blades off - the skill is nearly worthless for stabbing once you can actually reliably hit the targets you're trying to stab. You can probably get away with turning Unarmed Combat off too if you're only worried about accuracy; high Fighting skill helps your to-hit enough.

It's only against hostile enchantments. So MR is useless against fireballs, but useful against Slow. Also, it's binary; either you resist an enchantment completely or you don't, with nothing in between. Note that some enchantments aren't really enchantments, per se - Disintegrate, for example, checks MR and could as such be considered an enchantment, but its effects are more comparable to those of conjurations.

Vault suggestion thread

What are vaults?
Vaults are the pre-designed levels or chunks of levels that show up in the game every now and then. For example, the game always starts with the player inside an entry vault. Many branch ends, such as Lair:8, have a guaranteed vault at the end.
Here's a screenshot from Tiles of an entry vault (one of mine, in fact):

For more detailed information about vaults, read [your Crawl folder]/docs/develop/levels/introduction.txt. For the purposes of this topic, just remember that vaults can contain pretty much anything and can appear pretty much anywhere. Monsters in vaults can have specific names, hit points, equipment, spells, and tiles.

What is this topic?
This topic is for talking about what you would like to see in Crawl's vaults. As an enthusiastic (perhaps too enthusiastic) vault designer, I want to try to give attention to the areas that need attention, and this seems like a good way to figure out what Crawl players in general want. Some examples of things you might ask for:
- More vaults for a certain dungeon branch
- More vaults for a certain branch end
- More vaults featuring certain monsters

Feel free to get more specific, of course.
