How strong can your ally become?

I haven't played beoghites or yredelemnulites, because I prefer solo play, but what if I enslave a rat and train it so it would kill dragons for me, is it possible? I'm not entirely serious, but I'm curious what can I do with that.

^I used to think this way, too(and still like to focus on getting my strongest spells online), but then I realised, that with a few enhancers you will have all the spell power you want, while nothing will make you more durable in general, than training at least some dodging and fighting.

I know that UC is considered one of the most powerful melee skill and It's pretty cool that UC is on par with other weapons, but since branded great swords are pretty common and it's quite possible to find or acquire a claymore and brand it if it's not and get much more damage from them at maxed ski...

IMO, you want 10 short blades as soon as you find a dagger of electrocution(assuming that you are going to use it as your main weapon).

I don't know, when I proposed poison to stop taking hp at 1, I was opposed by arguments like that I should be careful around poisonous guys in stead of just beating them to death, probably appies here as well. My 15lv Vp survived raiju with 14/24/14(or less, since it's what he had after returning and killing all elves). If you teleport asap, it should be fine, it seems. I think a well enchanted dagger of elec will be better than the captain's cutlass against anything with 5+ AC(and no rElec). Yes, but I don't think going out of your way to try for 20 strength on this character is worth it. Fortunately xbows are good even at (a good deal) less than minimum delay. Its also fine if OP only uses the xbow early on and ultimately decides not to use xbows any more later in the game, of course....

If you want to rely on a crossbow, you might want to know, that you need about 20 str to get it to the minimum delay (I think that's what sandman said in some thread)

What the minimum enchantment would be set to 0 for acquirements? I think 0 is bad enough, since we can't improve it, unlike the usual armour. In fact I would make -1 or 0 minimum for anything apart from body armour and for body armour I would set it to something like +1 at least or 33-50% of the bas...

qb of distortion is as good as a weapon of distortion can go, probably, but it's a bit sad to not use all those trained M&Fs. I would start with a polearm on an abyssal knight, because I think reaching should be good for blinking monsters.

When you see a lot of monsters, including Chinese zombies you should know better than staying to fight. Dying with 43 ac and nearly usable ice storm sounds a bit tough, though.

I think you had a nice character there, probably capable of clearing a 15-rune+zig game(storm+channeling, duh)

My Halflings seem to survive better than most other races. Probably because they have good defences and some other good apts. Try HaAs and start with 9 stealth and dodging until you get at least 20 EV, that will let you survive better. Curare is great for any stuff, like uniques or early hill giants...

You fight the orb mimic and don't find the real one and then you go on an endless adventure of looking for it in places like the abyss and pandemonium. Though some leads would help.

You could probably stab some tough unique with this dagger. Like tiamat :) What Are you planning to do with all those hexes?.. I'm fine with the idea of imbalanced characters, because I do that myself, but at least train 6-9 fighting and dodging and that would be cheaper than learning a level of hex...

I once died in one turn by going downstairs to an adjacent hydra. You could say that I couldn't do anything, but I could probably train my defences more :)

My point is that if thrown stone decreases chance for monster to shout, it is a bug/abuse/spoiler/cheat and should be fixed Logically speaking you might be right, but it's a minor thing and there is no difference in how you lure a monster. The curent way just saves you some time that you would spen...

You could probably stab a monster with it once in a while, if you really want. I'm sure Dith will understand. To be serious, if you just use it rarely it will either just reduce your piety a bit or you will be under penance that will be lifted quickly if you kill some monsters.

If I'm not mistaken, casting a no-hunger spell takes less nutrition(0) than attacking(3). I would at least have a 4lv spell at 0 hunger, I guess.

when you get to your last bread ration, know that it will last you 5900 turns if you don't do anything, so you could stop spamming high hunger spells and look for more food, while using low hunger spells. Think of it this way - next time you'll have more luck. One bad acq and one good is better than two medioce, since you won't use either. Well, I wouldn't mind if acquirement would not at least give +13-1 dagger of RNG's generousity{drain,-1int} or -4 chain mail "xomlolz"{+1int-1dex}

If you are going to use a one-hander, then trishula would make sense, since it also has reaching. But I think that beating the crap out of demons with a huge weapon is more effective, but if you are ditching tso, then I guess you won't get that holy shi..eld thing.

Yes, but a high base damage weapon still would be much better if they are resistant to electricity. I think it's better to enchant the heaviest weapon available. For one-handers it's probably better to use electrocution most of the time if you have found any. You could also probably bless a ranged weapon to soften guys while they come closer. I've never played tso, though, so it's in theory :)
