I'd say the best effect of Veh for DEWz would be getting some hard-hitting spells as soon as possible. Sif only starts gifting at ******, and yeah, following Sif enforces some bad skilling choices. Regardless, I'd adivse you to at least try the gods I mentioned if you find their altairs soon enough...
