Re: Seeking MuSk advice

Not exactly good news, but I certainly appreciate the advice. I'll keep working at it. Maybe I'll get lucky at some point.

Seeking MuSk advice

I really am not sure why I am having so much trouble with the Skald. I've won with MuFi and MuGl...plus most Mucasters...I'm expecting to have trouble with the warrior-mages, as mummies (in my experience) have specialize a lot. So far, I've tried playing Skald as pure melee, turning off spells and j...

I had just used a deck of escape.
The morgue doesn't show much at 27881& 27882.

God gift shafted?

Maybe this isn't the right spot for this I am wondering if this is a bug, or working as intended: You kill the spiny frog! Sif Muna grants you a gift! A shaft opens up in the floor! A torn book {god gift} falls through the shaft. The komodo dragon completely misses you. There are no items here. You ...

Re: how to win a centaur

Centaur was a toughy for me, too. Eventually I won the same way I won (almost) every other race....made him a caster. 240 health, 80 magic, 38AC http://crawl.akrasiac.org/rawdata/Avigdore/morgue-Avigdore-20150704-231341.txt Casters that can pretty much guarantee an escape even after depleting all of...

Re: MuSu kicking my @$$

I was watching your twitch games last night, and learned a bit. Unfortunately I made my own plans on how to best play a summoner...don't be a summoner. I turned Lightning Spire into a Cloud Mage and made my escape that way. Chain lightning > summons for me =/. I do appreciate your examples, and I pl...

And coyote packs, gnoll packs, bees swarms & sky beats on level 3...the always enjoyable spectre on level 5...still haven't figured it out.

Re: MuSu kicking my @$$

Starting to think that my only real option is to ditch summoning as soon as I find my first weapon and just use the spells as my only escape option.I though I was going to quit the games trying to get a felid and a demigod to win...MuSu's still breaking me.

MuSu kicking my @$$

Anyone have any recommendations on how to get a MuSu going? I've tried 100? and can't make any real progress. Most of the time I'm dying in the first few monsters...a pair of anything, a coyote pack, sometimes even a single cockroach...I spend all 3 of my mana summoning level 1 stuff and end up dyin...

Re: Is there ever a good time to pick Sif Muna?

My problem with Vehumet is that I've spent multiple games getting the 6-star spells and not getting anything I can use. Maybe it's changed recently, but my mummies can't really branch out in spell selection much. If I don't get the spells that I Need...I'm gonna end up overwhelmed. My blaster wins a...

Re: any change about movement AI of enemies? (about OoD)

I think it has to be more than that. I'm pretty sure I've cast OOD in a single square width tunnel and have it run up to, then past/through an enemy leaving them unscathed. There's no possible path for the monster to double step around it. It's common enough now that I notice it with some regularity...

YAVP MiCK: Why does Xom have to be this good?

So, my fastest win by far, first CK for me, & first Mi without the double damage bug. Read Magipi's TrCK write up and thought I'd give it a similar shot. Had 1 MiCK die in Zot 1 when paralyzed by XOM while fighting a death cob...as soon as the paralyze ended, I fainted from starvation...and died...

Re: Does anybody enjoy non-melee backgrounds?

Not only do I prefer casters...I prefer Mummy Wizards to anything else. I've got another one set to win if CAO hadn't gone down :?

I prefer the escape potential of casters. I am more experienced with them, and I can tell better when I've gotten in too far over my head.

Don't have a link yet, I will update when http://crawl.akrasiac.org/scoring updates with the new info, but I just died when Lom Lobon cast Tornado, tossing me into the water to drown...or maybe I moved over water while under the affect of his Tornado? Is that even possible? If so...terrible, terrible...

YAVP DEWI: First 15 rune win

Finally (FINALLY!) managed a 15 rune win that didn't involve any sort of cheating-like behavior. After reading tcjsavannah's post about a boring DEWI 15 rune win, I thought I'd pattern my skill-ups and spells after his run. I lucked out and found an early Robe of the Archmagi and really got serious ...

YAVP: Naga Monk Chei (First Win)

First ever win. I did have a death carrying the orb out once  . I was far too excitable once I'd grabbed the Orb. Forgot the entire route I'd planned on using to escape, forgot to cast many of the spells I'd grabbed for the run, the usual stuff. Fortunately Naga Monk of Chie with Stoneform mak...
