Staves, as a weapon class, do need more options. They have (lumping the magical ones together) a total of three. This is not necessarily a buff, it's just evening out the field so staves are more equal.

Keep in mind that, for some reason, he's only talking about completing D1 easily. Like it's usually supposed to be so challenging, you know? The other day I kicked a pebble pretty easily, my shoes must be overpowered. I should probably stick to just wearing socks to make it fair.

The rest of my post went on to describe how they're -not- as good as a fighter beyond D1. And even -in- D1, they aren't as good, it's just that the challenge is lesser than what is required of both builds. The fighter is still the better fighter.

Okay, for non-casters then - monks, fighters etc. For casters, what if there was a smaller version of the quarterstaff, a staff that was 5' instead of 8' or whatever a quarterstaff is? It would be 1.5 handed and do damage of 4 or 5. It could be a "rod", "baton", "staff"...

Well yeah, rods. But also evocable equipment, so a melee guy still has access to a reliable source of levitation and such, things that casters are pretty much guaranteed to have and that non-casters would otherwise have to rely entirely on potions for.

As I understand it, there's a chance an enemy will just pick up something you've dropped. That's why most people stash in hive and lair, because there's no enemies with opposable thumbs there.

It's not a glitch, it's there so you can see where the monster -was-.

Generally you can tell which one is the real one by it ... not being in the shadow. And it's the only one that moves.
