Re: Power indication for spells.

That being said, I can see how displaying the same bar for every spell and labeling it "power" is misleading. I'm sure there is something about this in the manual, which everyone really should read because it is very useful, so I'm not too bothered by it. Lots of players don't read manual...

Re: ideal spell set?

What is the point of having Firestorm, Tornado and Shatter? Wouldn't one be sufficient, or is it to work around resistances or something? Well I don't have a lot of experience with Tornado or Shatter, but here's my estimation of things: Tornado's a buff, so you would ideally want to cast it before ...

LCS has an average damage of (23+pow)/2, which works out to roughly 60 damage assuming 27 conjuration, no earth magic skill, 40 INT and no enhancers. Shatter's formula is a bit more complicated: it does num_dice*(5+pow/3)/2 - target's AC/2, where num_dice varies between 1 and 6 depending on the mon...

I've gotten quite fond of DEWz recently, haven't won with any yet but gotten runes with a lot of them and they seem to make very effective characters. If he/she/it follows me upstairs can I subsequently ditch it by fleeing back down? I favor spells because of the weight issue you raised. I like to have one or two of the various tactical potions and scrolls, a cluster of wands and some food on me at all times. At 3 str, according to fsim, in most circumstances the sling does about TWICE as much damage per time if you have steel bullets, and still much more without them. A crossbow does even more. With higher str the difference is smaller but a sling or crossbow with steel ammo is still much better than a...

I've tried Okawaru before with this combo (I use Okawaru for 99% of characters), but he wasn't as useful as I thought he would be. I didn't know about the 40% GDR and I have absolutely no idea what exactly it does. So statue form gives you great protection but does little with your damage output? Minotaur headbutts are actually a pretty big deal. While Hill Orcs are superior in defense due to helmets and orcish armour bonuses, Minotaurs are better at offense because of all those headbutts. Pitting them against each other in a fight would probably see Minotaurs winning, but it would be close....

It's kinda ridiculous how Heroism starts turning into garbage once you get close to the caps. If Heroism could be used to surpass the skill caps then this wouldn't be a pr...
