I do not think that distortion narrows your options that much, as bows/crossbows/slings + melee is not a very common combination for me, and everything else works fine. Sure, staffs are useful for spellpower but spells work fine without them, and throwing and evocations - the two most popular option...

I guess vamp is good for a bot because bots has a harder time retreating and resting or breaking up large groups. I won, but I was a few hours slow for a Nelemex's choice win. :-( I put on a ring of strength and wore the crystal plate armour. I won't find a similar armour soon.

Unfortunately I am a HaEE. Although I can still cast LRR in it with 7% failure rate - maybe I should use it?

I have AC 39 EV 29 without it, and AC 61, EV 14 in it. (But I can not cast iron shot in it yet.)

In my experience -Archmagi does not matter much for Absolute Zero. It is extremely loud either way, and there are not other difference. I personally would still wear the scarf on a character with Absolute Zero.

About the difficulty spike: I second those who tell you that there are no difficulty spike around the first rune (or elswhere). I am quite surprised at this. In my experience, there is a significant difficulty spike at this point. Granted, some D:15 endings are quite tough (fire giant, frost giant)...

I do not think a blessed demon weapon is that good. It is good in the extended part of the game, but it is not so good before that: its brand is useless against most enemies. For example a demon whip of electrution is better during a standard 3 rune game than a sacred scourge.

It was good as an amulet, since you could just remove it quickly whenever you were in danger. The drain cost did not matter much.

It is scary as a cloak though, I personally would not wear it.

Absolute Zero is a new level 9 Ice spell in 0.25, replacing Glaciate. It kills 1 monster immediately - you can not target with it, it randomly kills 1 amongst the nearest ones. To the best of my knowledge it kills everything in the game including named Pan Lords.

It remained my armour troughout the game till I won. The slaying was extra good for my quickblade, I had 40/40/12 defense at the end with hat of the alchemist.

Because, contrary what svendre beleives, the penalty is actually not meaningful, and barely noticable if you do not know about it. Of course svendre is absolutely right that we should still remove it.
