Re: Balancing Spellcasting Vs. Spell Schools

I find that leaving spallcasting and your main spell school(s) on at equal learning gives the benefits of boosting spellpower while increasing MP and reducing hunger. The hunger hurts when your level 5 spell costs a ration and having those few mp points more allows more casting before fleeing.

Re: JUST ONE QUESTION

Does Xom being one or the other makes It less powerful? Is it even important? And, from my understanding, the devs avoid mentioning gender.

Re: Maximizing Nemelex output (books of wonder)

When I start with Nem, I drop one item at a time for wonders and pray. Once I get that first deck, I inscribe 'wonder' on it and then wait until I can triple-draw and then stack it. I sac everything except items for wonders (I keep them in my stash) just to quickly get piety up, which gives higher l...

Re: Rings of Ice and Fire

Wearing both cancels each other since the malus is both tothe resistance and the power of the opposite school. I think they should atleast give 2 levels of resistance to make up for the maluses.

Re: Rescale the Magic Crosstraining Penalty

The real problem might have more to do with the lack of good available Fire/Earth spells in starting books. I disagree with this. Throw flame is the only bad spell in those books. Also with high spellcasting and, if releveant to the spell, a high third skill (ie. conjurations), any spell can be rea...

Re: The crawl.chaosforge.org wiki needs higher standards

Some of the advice is very good. I believe advice should be separated and standardized, but certainly not removed. There is the discussion tab for deciding the fate of bad or irrelevant advice. I agree with mentioning the version and keeping trunk out (Mantis is for that).

57d621c | Raphael Langella | 2011-02-08 23:29:03 +0100 Prevent chain paralysis. When coming out of a paralysis, you're immune for 1d3 turns. This is in the latest changelog. I believe it's one of the best changes in quite awhile. The whole premise of playing roguelikes is the choices you must make ...
