Note also that spears and hand-axes do slightly more damage than clubs and daggers (hand axes are roughly as accurate as clubs and spears are roughly as accurate as daggers, iirc) should you have those as options for throwing in the early game. afaik the {god gift} tag lasts until such time as you merge it with another stack that doesn't have such a tag (so it's permanent on non-missile gifts, and goes away pretty much as soon as you pick up a stack of missiles)

Also Fights get out of hand for a melee user when too many critters join the party. Every time you whack something you make noise and things nearby come to investigate. If you let most things chase you back to an already-cleared area before you kill them, you'll get to fight them much more one-on-one.

That's intentional. If you wait around a ridiculous length of time on a level it will start spawning higher level critters, then eventually it will taper off and stop producing new creatures at all.

The thing to use silence for as a stabber is to avoid melee combat noise and shouting and of course spellcasting of the naughty critters as well. Silence is good to cast if something is *already* awake, and you're just going to beat it up, that way you can do so without waking the rest of the level....

Actually min delay isn't 160/2 or 200/2, either one can get down to 70% so at max skill they are the same speed.

Broad axe requires (160-70)/10 = 9 * 2 = 18 axe skill
Executioner's axe requires (200-70)/10 = 13*2 = 26 axe skill
