The character type who wants to use it is an all-in fire mage that lacks either Fire Storm or the kill-die apts/wizardry to get Fire Storm running, and it is quite noticeably useful for them as an MP-efficient way of burning popcorn before Fire Storm.

Flame is actually legitimately useful in Shoals, especially on bog-standard meleebot characters that lack ranged damage output; steam does solid damage to lots of stuff in water, at range, and it has a good chance of blocking LOS to boot.

Random effects being purple I could see though.

Elyvilon doesn't actually give a shit if you break a zombie or a demon. They're not living things. The solution here IMO would be to fix the description of divine protection rather than to change its effect. It really isn't broken at all; live-saving doesn't heal you, it just averts the killing blow...

Oh right, I forgot to add a detail to this "hypothetical" scenario: you have no scrolls of summoning. You wished you had found one when you were getting the Slimy rune and you haven't gotten any since then.
