this proposal would just make it significantly easier to cast low level spells in heavy armour, which is not desirable gameplay given the large number of useful spells at low levels. for specifics, the current "spell difficulty" values are 3 (level 1) 15 (level 2) 35 (level 3) 70 (level 4)...

yes, BVC is specifically coded to not work on things you can't see (so you don't walk away and deal damage out of LOS)

from what I understand reading the code, the message occurs when the duration has 10 turns left, and the game removes 1d5 turns from the duration when the message is played so you have between 9 and 4 turns left before it expires

you were visible because you were standing in shallow water, which nullifies invisibility unless you're flying (which is also what the very slow status is)

Any sub-5 level spell is considerably weaker than any decent weapon trained to corresponding skill. first you need to understand this statement is completely false. saying that a skill 8-10 weapon is significantly better than freeze, conjure flame or the star...

limited spell slots but infinite exchange is the same thing as infinite spell slots, you are just moving the spell slots to your inventory/the floor in the form of books and arguably making it more tedious to access specific spells

okay I went and grabbed the number of acid dragons:

1.06 (0.70 scales) in D
0.12 (0.08 scales) in Lair
3.38 (1.58 scales) in a whole 3-rune game with Swamp/Snake

roughly quadrupling the amount of archmagi in D/Lair/Orc would be pretty strong, yeah
