it's a complicated way of saying "drop everyone's fighting/spellcasting aptitudes by 2 and call it a day", all it does is make it require more exp to achieve the same level of fighting/spellcasting, but now characters have a substantial power level boost because if they invest 12 polearms ...

that form of paralysis is resisted by not being in melee range of hornets (which also only appear in that situation if you decide to fight a speed 8 monster for some reason)

yes, the amount of HP+MP you lose will always be equal to the damage you take. if you don't have enough MP the game will be forced to remove HP, although that only happens at very low values of MP because spirit shield balances the damage so that your HP% loss and MP% loss are as equal as possible. ...

Octopodes have 11 slots, so that's theoretically +110, Chei gives you +15, brilliance gives +5, add that to base Octopode int and possibly sprinkle some Jiyva stat shuffling/Focus card in older versions.
