As far as I know, "immune to your own umbra" is one of Dith's benefits, so a non-Dithmangos worshiper still has to deal with it.

Jiyva's wrath is enough to keep her alive, I think. But as soon as she forgives you she'll instantly die.

Sacrificing artifice to Ru removes the ability to activate the boots, but they will still stay on indefinitely.
