Casters are more powerful both early game and late game but they are less forgiving because of limited MP, bad AC and typically low HP both from species (Na and Dr are exceptions) and undertraining Fighting compared to melee characters for whom Fighting increases weapon damage also.

But Ozo works vs ranged attacks too and you are still faster than normal speed monsters with Ozo.
Felid is the best species to use Ozo IMHO, especially Felid with ranged attack.

You are Felid with 65 HP and 30 MP. 3 MP is irrelevant at this point IMHO, +N AC is not.

No, I almost always read-ID unknown scrolls anyway.

I use AC+EV total as metric except EV below 10 is not that great. Maybe I am wrong, the best way to see what's better is to use fsim vs different monsters.
Just to clarify, I am not qualified to write GrBe guide either.
I am sure I am annoying ;)

GDA and CPA are often optimal indeed, but not when they are just +2. +8 plate is much better with typical GrBe stats and skills.

To make it clear there is nothing wrong with wearing FDA either. It's just +4 FDA is worse than +8 plate unless you have no way to get rF++ otherwise.

You seem to have used plate armour a lot instead of those "bad" body armour in all 3 games. What ego and enchantment did they have?

In 2 of those games you have 5 potions of resistance, don't you use them vs OoF?

I don't think shield is that useful for character with AC 32/EV 21, those defences alone allow to win easily. But yes, it can be good now provided Shields is already at 11+.
Still I would go for battleaxe of course ;)

show_more = true Setting this option to false will cause the game not to prompt if more than a window-full of messages are output at once. This option has no effect if clear_messages is set. Additionally, it has no effect on whether force_more_message triggers.

It's XL 18 MiBe who has DWhip at min delay and end game Fighting/Armour/dodging. Obviously it is a good idea to train some ranged attack or battleaxe.

You get one AC for every {total base armour of all armour pieces you are wearing} / 22 skill level in Armour.
With robe (base armour 2) and cloak (base armour 1) you get (2+1)/22 AC per skill level in Armour, that means you need Armour 7.4 to get a single AC, that's not efficient training of course.

Only one of those characters uses a good body armour, I think it can be a good idea to win harder characters before writing such a guide. GrBe forgives almost everything.

I guess people have in mind species like HO/Mi/DD when talking about speed penalty being irrelevant. I doubt it is a good idea to use ponderous as HaHu or KoFi.

I wouldn't use the amulet with many combos, crawl is "balanced" around being able to one-shot Fe and Sp. It is better to retreat and try again.

It's niche, but so are lots of amulets, and serves two worthwhile purposes: (a) it's worth wearing if you have great defense but bad offense (b) it can make for interesting randarts I kinda wish harm just reduced your max HP instead of making you take more damage, but recognize balanc...

I don't mind the effect of harm (although I haven't used it ever), but I dislike the draining effect with unequip. It is just annoying. If the draining is supposed to prevent swapping, a better solution imo would be to make it autocursing. That's not enough. You might easily use the amulet to cast ...

Packs are bad with the amulet, most monsters are trivial 1 on 1 even without the amulet, singles which are dangerous and where the amulet would help should be avoided instead. Harm is bad because it is good only in situations when there is only one monster who attacks player. Player does not need help in such situations. Player needs help when it is surrounded or when it is attacked by a pack of Yaktaurs etc.
