CIP - MIBe lvl 11 Which armour?

Have yet to pick up many resistances. Just found U - the +1 leather armour of the Mind (worn) {+Rage rElec rPois rF++ rC+ Dam+1} (You found it on level 11 of the Dungeon) It affects your damage-dealing abilities (+1). It greatly protects you from fire. It protects you from cold. It insulates you fro...

Re: Straightforward stabbing build with no summoning?

Endgame, schmendgame, this guy wants to get rolling with no summoning. let's assume he doesn't want to deal with any personal undead armies with Kiku [edit - although the pain brand is nice] Spriggan Enchanters are the stabbiest stabbers in Stabbytown Try a Kobold (really any background will do) pic...

Re: Why rename Kenku to Tengu?

Sure, and I like Tolkien and I don't mind at all putting his stuff or D&D stuff into other games. But Tolkien isn't exactly mythology. Well, I would have to disagree. Tolkien is *exactly* mythology. That doesn't mean it has to be programmed into Crawl, of course. But, the tendency to confuse To...

Re: The 'Questions too small to need their own thread' threa

Is Fedhas OK with vampiric weapons? The various sources don't mention it, but I don't feel like experimenting with penace.

Re: Transmuters only fight unarmed?

There was never a practical need to get to level 20 or above in your weapon skill. Practically, what you will do is train your weapon skill to minimum delay for your weapon and no higher. Sometimes this is over 20, but for one-handed weapons it's much lower. Unarmed combat you'd probably train to a...

Transmuters only fight unarmed?

One of the great things about crawl is that weapon types are pretty balanced, including UC. One of the things about crawl I don't love so much is that hyper-specialization to one weapon type seems necessary to successful play. I am playing a DrTm right now, and I would really rather pick up a weapon...

DDNe - Gastronok'd

Well, I decided to play DD a little bit, in the spirit of trusting the devs and getting used to no MD. actually I mulched a DENe by mistake the first time I tried to roll a DD and DENe's are really fun but that can be my next YASD. Anyway, this was smooth sailing until I saw that damn snail. Nothing...

Re: Invisibility and doors

It's not scumming!! Good gosh. Think of it as Sigmund is chasing you, you close a door on him and the serial act of you closing/him opening is really just a long struggle to keep the door closed against him. Totally rational response to imminent death for a low-level character.

Curious about your ealy to mid game play style. I have had much more luck dumping the shield early on. Did you use missiles? Did you have any trouble fighting early on?

Should I wait for Vehumet?

Really enjoying this SpVm but I've been past the Temple and I've seen every altar except Vehumet and Jivya. Would you wait for Vehumet or just go with Sif?

I'm going to save and start a new character and wait for feedback.

Re: Improve the early game

I think some low-level improvement of fighter is warranted. It is flavorless, and for most species you can accomplish the very same ends with a different, more effective background. I'm pretty new to the game, is there a structural problem with adding a background-specific ability or ability set to ...

Re: My aptitude in survival is -5

I'm in roughly the same position as you. I am still not running way enough. Definitely not using my escapes enough. Most of my best characters are TrMo or KoBe. I find that the big difference, except for Monks, is finding a branded weapon early. So, I am putting more emphasis on wear-ID'ing everythi...
