Re: Advice: what to ask using an acquisition scroll

bumping as I'd like some advice for my KoBe. I'm torn between armour, gold, and staff. If I go armour I can buy gloves from a shop to fill that slot first, but I have some armour options as it is - my current chainmail, or spend all my money for +3 leather armour of MR, or acquire gold (would need 1...

Re: What to do against invisible enemies?

I was pretty annoyed at the necessity of gods in crawl, until I realized that my main objection to real religions is lack of verifiability. The crawl pantheon are quite happy to prove their reality to you, especially when you displease them. and napalm is a fine answer to invisible enemies, once you...

Re: Secret Doors

random secret doors can lead do autoexplore nuisances - where it is clear to me the player that there is a door (a lot of dead-end corridors/T-junctions are like that), but my character didn't see it so I need to interrupt him, move him back, and '5'earch. vault secret doors can be pretty spoilery. ...

a) Let's say I'm travelling to something - stairs, or a stash - and get interrupted by a monster. I fight it, and afterwards I want to resume travel. Is there an wasy way to do that, or do I have to find the target location again? b) In console mode, looking at the map with X lets you see a quick su...

Re: The 'Questions too small to need their own thread' threa

As an Ogre, should I use a giant [spiked] club as soon as I find one, or is it better to wait for a certain maces & flails level? edit: guess I should add that my alternate is +1/+2 mace of crushing, but this is something I'm not sure about over tens of Ogre failures. edit2: the spreadsheet in t...

Re: The 'Questions too small to need their own thread' threa

The formula uses the mean of the skills, so spreading it out is fine. Assuming that it's easier to get from say 1 to 2 than from 10 to 11, spreading it out will be more effective than focusing on one. edit: a question of my own. Does a ring of regeneration increase hunger even while you're at full H...
