Re: Other Roguelikes You Enjoy?

Yeah, I also don't find the humour of Dredmore to be especially amusing. It tries too hard and is just a bit too quirky in its references; and I find myself (oddly), laughing at Crawl more, typically due to H**Y FCUK situations that I always seem to find myself in. Yeah, "trying too hard"...

Oh, for god's sakes. I just LOOOVE it when people are like, "been playing for a week, here's a 15 runer LOLOLOL". It's a herculean task for me to get that third rune. Hell, today I've been struggling to get dudes to freaking LAIR for some reason. Disregard my butthurt. What I meant to say ...

Re: Other Roguelikes You Enjoy?

I really like Dredmor, but it honestly can't pull me away from crawl very often. I do like the humor in it though; crawl by comparison has its intermittent inside jokes, but it strives I guess more toward OMG IMMERSION!11one!!. I don't dislike crawl for that, and I even see Dredmor going a bit overb...

When I hit Zot 5 the first time, I had cleared out one of the lungs and was backtracking to go upstairs and rest. Splatted on an ancient lich myself, THREE STEPS from a staircase. He got between me and it. Good job on making it that far. Isn't it funny that what you feel right now is accomplishment ...

Re: CIP: Lupus the Ogre Mage, OgNe of Lugonu

I don't play many Ogres, and I can count the number of times I've been to the bottom of Zot on one hand, so take this with a grain of salt... Giant Spiked Clubs, as I understand it, are the best weapons in crawl. Bar none. You'd need an amazing randart demon whip to top one, and then there'd be no w...

Re: Stupidest deaths.

I had a fairly promising SETm of Kikubazooka, and had cleared Lair which is sort of means it's time to get invested. Seriously the Lair is like my very own version of smallpox: I don't bother remembering a name until the character has survived it. So my SETm has cleared it and has gotten decent gear...

Can't say I've ever played any tabletop stuff, unless you count Magic: the Gathering which I played as a kid. The stories people tell about DnD, warhammer40k et al. are funny though. Plus, I didn't know there were Lovecraftian ones. Who knew? Those might be fun, but I'd have to find people and it's ...

I like vaults which make me scream profanities when I open the door. Case in point: I really hate bees (even after they become trivial later), yesterday I hit 5 Bee vaults in my game. I ended up with like 104 Honeycombs. Ditto with the wall-to-wall kobolds/orcs/whatever. Shoutitis vaults. The most f...

Faith is great on Gods like Nemelex, and good on gods where you burn piety fast though spamming , like Trog, Oka, and Makhleb. I'd assume that it would be likewise awesome on Kiku or vehumet if you found it early: climb to max piety, snag relevant spellbooks, ditch amulet. Honestly, It probably suck...

Also, a +3+4 rpois relec ring mail named "Oqay", found on D:5. It was pretty self-explanatory.

I've been playing since .8, and I've noticed something: with every successive trunk update I seem to get worse instead of better. Thurmund could be the oldest, and be said to have "political ambitions" in his flavor text. Also he supports segregation of Mountain Dwarves. I'd honestly kinda like to see a theme level (perhaps a rune vault?) where there is a bridge over a sort of Scylla/Sarlaac pit monster that sends th...

One time I found relatively good randart platemail named "Kona". Not that big of a deal to most people, except that my faithful dog as a kid growing up was named Kona. From that point on, the monsters could only hit me for sentimental damage: "The orc hits you but does no damage."...
