Re: Best/Worst Artifacts

A shop on Orc:1 had this
  Code:
k - the ring "Qoom" (right hand) {+Inv rElec rF++ rC+ Str+3 Dex+4}

It almost spells doom right there, so I was "logically" afraid of dying a horrible and stupid death if I bought it, but I did overcome my fears and got it.

Re: CiP: GnWn^Oka - got pain+elec.

In my current game (on trunk too) I have seven of them and I've only cleared Lair, Orcs and the first couple of floors in the Snake Pit, so I think you might just have gotten unlucky with the potions.

Xom is trying to win me over just so he can then torture me on a future CK I'm sure.

Re: New species: Mullvad

I like it, it feels different enough to me that it could work as a new species. I have never gotten a DS with Nightstalker very far though so I don't know if the Mullvads would be pigeon holed too much into certain playstyles. 2) I'd make the tremor/mole sense similar to antennae except that you cou...

Re: Discussion: Improving Skalds

Trivial monsters departing the dungeon seems like a fairly elegant solution to keeping walking snacks around, but I've also never gotten a vampire very far (and certainly not to any point where living monsters would cease to be the norm) so I can't say how much it would break them. Another point to ...

Re: Random gods revisited

I really like this idea and I hope it can make it into the game at some point. Progressing through the game following a god you couldn't plan for would be very cool. Name: Rain of Toads Description: Drop a number of temporary toads (rising with piety) on and around a targeted area. Could be neutrals...

Re: decouple GDR and AC to improve armor

I don't know if it would impact much since it's most often melee guys that wear the heavier armour early on, but another penalty to wearing too "heavy" armour for your training could be a movement speed penalty. It would at least make my close-and-personal guys consider it since not being ...

Re: Proposal: Monsters should not pick up items.

I personally like monsters picking up stuff, mostly so that random kobold might just have a wand to zap me with or that one time I learned to never let a rod lie on the ground after getting killed by a horde of demons summoned by an orc wizard with a *surprise* rod of summoning. Though they could of...

A pretty nice necklace for my berserker even if don't need the +Rage.

Those look great, I especially like the dwarven battleaxes and the orcish broad and war axes.

If you don't already use it, you could give Irfanview a try. It has a capture function that doesn't (I think) rely on the clipboard.

Ye, the brand was bad but I literally got nothing good axe-wise from him. I kept holding out hoping for a decent broad axe from a shop or elsewhere to enchant, but never got anything but the flaming one I used at the end. I used the pain one with rC++ to kill ice dragons then.

YAVP MiFi of Okawaru (humble 3 rune first win)

I finally managed to liberate the Orb of Zot after an immense amount of dead heroes. I used to play Nethack once in a while but the interface started to wear on me so it was only once every blue moon. I tried DCSS a while back but never got into it. Some time after 0.8 came out I gave it another sho...

My best (quick) try at one stanza. Da ligger Du nøgen og skrumpen og fæl. Alt med Dit Skalled Hoved Langt sortere end den Egepæl, Hvormed Du blev Sumpen troloved. There you lie, naked and shrunken and foul. Complete with your barren head, Much blacker than the oaken pole, With which to the swamp you...

In the init-file you can uncomment the line

default_manual_training = true

You'll start with manual training from there on.
