I tried that one many years ago. As a simulation of how challenging it is to survive in the wilderness with Neolithic-level technology, it's pretty good. As a fun game, it didn't do it for me.

It's Stabbing, not Sniping. Not getting bonus damage and guaranteed hits is the penalty you pay for not having to get up close and personal.

I have had monsters blindly follow an efreet that I was leading into a corridor to fight one-on-one. But I wouldn't leave an efreet alive just to create flame clouds for other monsters to walk through.
