Re: How to make zombies more interesting?

One thing I like about the "rise from the ground" mechanic: it can really neuter stealth, maybe even make it backfire. Instead of slowly crawling forward and pulling asleep enemies, you suddenly find yourself in the middle of them? If Pr(a zombie rises) is related to stealth, you could be ...

Re: CIP: VpWz - advice for a newbie

I would not try to invest in a large shield because it takes a lot of ranks to neutralize the spell casting penalty. Well, this would be true if OP were talking about a large shield (25 shield skill, -5 SP, pretty big casting penalty). But that's not what OP talking about, this is about the shield ...

Nice job, especially avoiding stat-death! Looks like you kept your head together on several close calls. A side note on ammo: with Oka/Trog as gods, you can afford to go archery as early as you want (after you get an acceptable late-game melee weapon, if you want to be conservative). Ammo gifts + fl...

Almost finished this one. Actually, the golden rune was a pretty phyrric victory. And not very pretty. After reading through the Naga/chei stuff, I thought I'd see how it works in trunk. I don't think losing early game constriction is that big a problem. Early game naga should still be making full use of the spit attack anyway. Death at a distance is always good. You can eat poisonous corpses (kobolds, mites, etc.) to make up for the extra hunger. A little early stealth can be a lif...

I would add sublimation of blood to the "to learn" list. You don't have any invocations, so Sif Muna channeling is pretty useless, other than giving you enough MP to blink away and run. Which can be useful if you've spent yourself shattering and everything on the level isn't dead yet. Othe...

A ring or wand of invisibility can really make Shoals 5 a lot easier. Your anti-magic axe will also reduce the effectiveness of ilsuiw and aquamancers.
