I'm not sure how avoiding bad stuff from this would either be easy, or tedious. In fact, other than a scroll of identify, I can't think of a perfectly safe way to ID this scroll. Random bad stuff happening is one thing (Zot traps, OOD monsters), but random bad stuff that's also easily and tediously avoidable (potion-decaying mummy death curses, immolation burning other scrolls in your inventory - both since removed) is not okay.
