All amulets have unique tactical effects. Like gourmand deal with food clock, rMut\rCorr keep your character from resource loss. And you always have to think which amulet you have to wear now. So, -0.1 speed boost will fit there perfectly, it'll solve speed problem (if you do not care about mut\corr...

so we should merge rings of fire and rings of ice too? If we are talking only about game design - yes. They have same mechanic with opposite sign. And are useless for anyone but elementalist right after finding rC\rF ring. But it's hard to fix it right now without getting problems with early resist...

to evilmike I do not suggest to leave behind all but three staves by number of mechanic types used. (active+enchancer\evokable\passive) But I think, that current situation is incorrect, because of 6 similar weapons you wouldn't use except you've already invested plenty of exp to corresponding magic ...

Wait, what? Elemental staves may be a little mechanically opaque, but how are they against Crawl design philosophy? Reducing the number of them also means that when you find a staff, it's more likely to be useful to you; I think their current level of randomness is pretty appropriate. Being FE and ...

Right now there are plenty of staves with quite similar mechanic behind. So, fire\cold\earth\air\poison\death - practicaly do same thing - corresponding resist and damage(school\evoks). As far as I can understand basics of game disign and philosophy section of crawl's manual - this is wrong. Perfect...

Change CFly amulet

So, right now amulet of controlled flight is almost useless. Its only purpose - to take it on during levitation from lev-boots for saving some food.

I suggest to give it tengu-like speed boost. -0.1 would do, I think.

Well, I've killed ~50 HEAM, and bows was always worse than javs or even any melee. And any enemy with armor would consume all arrows. Even when I maxed bow skill it won't gave any noticable damage.
Btw, what s the impact on bows from str\dex? I've heard different opinions.

Hi.

I'd like to ask: What the idea behind bows and x-bows?
Well, throwing do not waste turns for switching and have pretty nice damage.
Slings could use stones and don't mind shields.
But what about bows and x-bows? How to get profit of them?

Well, as for me - lev+swift is pretty usefull and logical combo(like statue+stoneskin). And i really like idea of giving swift bonus to cfly amulet. The levitation restrictions became annoying with lev-spell, when you cann`t cast Flight and didn`t find amulet yet. As for me this is quite rare cases....

I suggest to change Levitation/Fly mechanic. There is two main reasons: 1) CFly amulet is pretty useless and just annoying. You can stop levitation with ring to get item, or wear CFly amulet. So no special use for amulet itself. And amulets usually give strategic buff, not a tactical. 2) Levitation ...
