you could also use iterm2 instead. iTerm2 shows flickering lines when moving, which annoys me. I saw that kilobyte commited a fix to this, but it made everything black on my screen. But with "use bright colors for bold text" and this fix it works fine. Thanks all! I'm pretty new to OSX.

Yes it is a non-US Keyboard (a german one), but I normally use a US-Layout for coding and crawling. ctrl + d works fine! Thanks.

I'm not sure why you'd be worried about the backlash for unwielding the dagger. Why would you want to unwield it? You don't have anything worth swapping to, and you're not going to find a higher-damaging brand than distortion. It's also on a good stabbing tool, so you don't have to switch for that....

On a DD I would go for the Vampiric Battleaxe.
I normally try to train melee after I got reasonable power on LRD.
Concerning T&D: I try to get something between 6 and 10 by Lair:8, depending on aptitude and spare XP of course.

FWIW I think vampiric+Necromonicon spells (especially Borg and Haunt) is considerably better than pain. The Necronomicon spells needs a lot of XP to get online though. Hi I shafted from V:1 to V:2 right into this Xom vault. I was lucky i already had a wand of teleportation, otherwise this would have been sure death. The walls are also not diggable, and scrolls could have burned (I didn't have one anyway). Is that a bug, or did I miss an obvious escape option?
