Re: Remove most armours from the game

It seems to me that "the more the merrier" in case of EV or AC so my hybrids will always end up with -1ev or less armours so they don't cripple their spellcasting, and, say, 15-17 str characters feel like a waste of statpoints because they can't reach the really good AC numbers - so might ...

Thank you, that clears it up. If the process is slow it doesn't matter as much. I'll just take monsters, and if anything else comes up meanwhile, even better :)

Re: Translations

Noticed that English version is also being improved on. The few changed texts I read sound better. It's just - they'll have to be re-translated for other languages, right? What are the plans for English version? Full sweep? Only certain bits? Just trying to see how to save some time here :)

Re: Translations

Is an older version of texts used for the translation? The reason I'm asking is because branches> Elven Halls description has this line: "The Elven Halls are three levels deep.", while it's "five levels deep" on Webtiles help. Edit: there are dwarven hall/spider's nest/hive descr...

Just chiming in to say the tiles look really good (maybe not the qblade) :) Especially like the shield ones - wouldn't mind to find an artefact using one of those sometime. And I think weapons look better with the outline too. Something about that makes them more crawl-y. And yes, weapony :D

Re: Webtiles chats will be logged in 0.11

I don't know if other players have requested this or it's just being done to have the same features. Still - could this logging be an option instead, please? Even if auto opt-in. I would very much prefer to both keep my game chats (somewhat) private and notes clean :)

Maybe a bit offtopic, but why do you people mention stairs as an option to run away? Uniques/baddies follow, don't they?

Does this thing count the accuracy in? Also - costs 1.5x more mana.

Re: Cloud traps

I have to say it's the first change I'm really not looking forward to. That is to say, even though I'm picky, I like everything else being done to the game over the years :) Even abjuration target change scares me but I still trust devs will do it right. Item destruction, however, really bugs me. It...

Re: Elemental Magic Schools Differentiation

I think Earth magic is okay as is, certainly powerful, certainly different and a lot of fun. I do like/use Iron Shot, but from watching other games/chatting it seems to me that IMB (isomething mystic blast ) and eventually the orb of destruction are the go-to spells to kill something that has ...

Could have tried Tomb, Zot 5, Pandemonium or Hells :)
At some point in the game, with some luck on gear, you become a nonstop killing machine. It's because you can block, avoid or ignore the majority of the damage coming at you. It usually ends when you meet anything that can torment/hellfire.

Re: New Class Proposal: Drug Dealer

This is a class proposal while Crawl has backgrounds. One of the golden rules seems to be 'backgrounds don't get unique abilities' (races do). This makes innate abilities not possible. 'Spell' (sound more like abilities to me) schools - 3 schools (low level trans, high level charms/hexes) wouldn't w...

How can I inscribe a rod with !a? I am very annoyed that I regullary fight with my rod with berserkers when I forgot to switch back to my axe. Strangely, I cannot inscribe anything on a rod, which is a very annoying limitation. I was doing the same, often enough. Add this line to the options file, ...

Re: The 'Questions too small to need their own thread' threa

Is there a "best" way to play the ID-Minigame? I have the feeling mine needs improving. I usually quaff-id potions by d3 end (bonus points if there's a sleeping mob over the corner so you can then rush it with might or agility potion), scrolls by d4 (wielding at least something so enchant...

Implementables/.10 plan : 1. In-game selection of auto-pickup items . Can't wait. 2. Interface implementables : yes please! Especially these bits: - Each equipment slot gets dedicated character - More verbose travel stop messages - Easy picking up of items when autoexplore stops - Change level anno...

Re: How to play faster?

Crawl is already very good on cutting down the tedium (autoexplore etc). Autoattack (tab key) on weak stuff helps. My favourite options bit, probably called 'edit options/rc' on cao, is 4-g: travel_delay = -1 (default 20) explore_delay = 5 (default 20) Play around with these values, travel at -1 won...

Webtiles: numpad buttons sending extra presses

Hello, I'm playing Webtiles on Opera 11.50, Windows7 64bit, thought of doing a few simple macros on my spare numpad keys. When I use numpad symbols /*-+ in the chat, they work fine. When inputting a macro trigger, they are sent twice to the game. For example making the macro "+" -> "f...
