+3 slaying is better than =regen in combat (consider that the slaying is 1d3 extra damage per hit and the HP regenerated by =regen doesn't come close to that). =regen's main use is regaining HP quickly inbetween fights. Int is relevant for spellpower and spell success. Since you are probably going to cast Transmutations and Charms, maybe Translocations, with this guy, spell success is more relevant since spell power is mainly important for spells that directly damage other monsters. Your int is already quite decent...

Venom Bolt is a pretty good spell. It will kill most things in Lair pretty easily (including blink frogs), and will help you get further in D. Airstrike is rather bad as far as damage goes, which might be why you are having problems. Dodging would be more useful than more Conjurations at this point....

A good rule of thumb is simply that you want to have as high a total of AC + EV as possible, though this isn't accurate in all cases (e.g. 10/20 would be better than 0/35 - raising low values gives a greater return).

Training both fire and air magic is redundant (elemental schools generally don't do very different things for your character). If you want someone to be more melee oriented, you can't give them a starting book that requires two skills at high levels to fully utilise. Also, summoning by its very nature already encourages melee (since you can take damage when you are in melee range, thus allowing your summons to live longer).

It's far too late for switching weapon classes to be worth it, especially for an executioner's axe (which would require 26 skill for minimum delay). Shields are not useless with UC.
