Sticky flame is not loud, and it is very good. The downside is that you have to be adjacent, but after you put the sticky flame on the enemy, you can start retreating if needed. It's a chei character with medicore defenses. I'd prefer casting sticky flame and then attacking with the +11 cutlass whi...

I'd train a few more levels of Short Blades for that +11 cutlass and elec dagger (later, EV has priority right now). I realise you want to kill everyone from afar, but if you are doing that using loud spells you're bound to end up with no MP and monsters in sight sometimes.

This doesn't even sound incredibly lucky. That's a good weapon and +5 protection is a great ring, but the resistance ring is mostly irrelevant and if you're following Makhleb, it's not like killing hydras (or anything in lair) was going to be a problem anyway.

Also note that some gods are good for virtually any character (e.g. Makhleb, Fedhas, and Nemelex) and if you find an altar to one of these gods early on, following them will rarely be a bad choice. D:2 Makhleb is better than D:6 Vehumet even for a conjurations-focussed character, for instance.
