Re: List your favourite builds

My tastes have changed in the (now rather considerable) time I've been addicted to this game. Nowadays, my favorite builds are Demonspawn Fire Elementalist, Spriggan Enchanter (or Stalker back in the day), and Minotaur Fighter. I'm a little biased towards those, having gotten 15-rune victories with ...

Yeah, but w/ Fire Storm you could also clear a 30 pan lord ziggurat floor, or Tomb:3 in a few turns. Comparing Dispel Undead with Fire Storm is like comparing Justin Bieber with Tupac. Heh heh. Fire Storm becomes more impressive (and cost effective) when you're also using a staff of fire and/or ring of fire to enhance it. Cold vulnerability from the ring is a downside, but you can easily slip off the ring when you don't need a peak Fire Storm. I'm surprised Vehumet (who is also excellent t...

Okawaru is the better choice, IMO. Not that Makhleb can't help you survive while you're under his banner, but Okawaru also does that AND he'll probably give you some gear that you can use the whole game. Plus there's no chance that Okawaru's powers will kill you just for being unlucky.

Picking a combo that I know dick about.

It's more convenient than starting over with a favorite combo after I've just scored a YASD (or even a full win) with it, and I just don't feel like building it all over again (yet).

And it's very sub-optimal.
