I tried immolation on Vault:5 a couple of times. It's a fast way to remove the guards. And it doesn't cause as much chaos as using Shatter, Apocalypse, etc. Trying immolation on TRJ sounds like fun.

I usually map the level and stair-dance. If the stairs get locked, then I either kill the warden or teleport down a hallway and kill whatever follows me.

I thought needles were changed? Well, that explains why I was able to needlestab lom in v15.

Cerebov is the only named demon lord who isn't immune to magic, so you could use a vulnerability scroll and confuse on him. It's probably not as reliable/safe as using needles though.

The dagger. Switch to the great mace for pain-immune enemies. Recommended spells: Apportation, Dispel Undead, and Sublimation. Raise Invocations to 12, if you plan on using greater servants.

They were probably using lua scripts. Check your options guide in your docs folder.

Lessons from the tourney: The Abyss can still kill you at low levels, even if you haven't died there in years. And do not attempt to streak with a mummy, if you haven't played Crawl in months.

I managed to turn a dumb as bricks KoBe into a tornado casting death machine. I focused on spellcasting, charms, air magic, and translocations. It takes awhile though.

Oh, I forgot to mention that giants in 0.8 can swim in deep water. Meaning you'd have to levitate over lava, which is harder to find.
