Best find on D:1 was a ring of slaying back when I was new at the game. I died a few levels later.

1. Ash's prayer turns remove curse scrolls into random curse scrolls.
2. Bolts of lightning or fire.

I don't understand why people delete their bone files in the 1st place. Ghosts are either free xp or nuisances that can be skipped. If you can't handle a ghost you can just leave the level. They can't follow you between levels, and if you win (or die) on a different level they are deleted.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how doable Snake is without rPois, last time I was there. In fact since the spellcasting nagas there can poison you anyway when you do have it... Nobody cares that you're a cheater. Everyone will just ignore your "wins". There's no need to punish yourself.

After getting 3 runes I clear Zot for XP (and so I can easily get the Orb whenever I want). Afterward, my branch order is usually Slime --> Tomb --> Hells --> Pan --> Abyss.

A staff of air is a decent weapon against most monsters, though the hardest monsters tend to be resistant to everything (Cerebov is a notable exception). Sadly, no. Your orc is destined to die by ineffectually using his crossbow in melee. Beogh can enchant your orcs' weapons, but I don't think it removes any curses.

What can I do to reduce how badly their smites can hurt me? Nothing reduces the damage of smiting, except maybe a deep dwarf's damage shaving. Only way to avoid smites is high magic resist, and/or a boatload of hit points. I'm not sure magic resistance works for smiting, but I do get the occasional...

I don't think I've ever lost with either a DDNe or SpEn once I got the hang of them. CeBe is also easy, but I find it boring. SETm is my favorite for 15-rune wins.

I was in a similar situation with my current character (I stepped on a teleport trap). My general suggestion is to read a scroll of fog, then make a run for it. A scroll of fear won't work on high level elves. You're probably screwed.

Every unarmed mutation gives you an extra attack. If you strike fast enough in combat your character may randomly use one of their auxiliary unarmed attacks.

I always cleared the Tomb with either Fire Storm or loads of summons. It isn't too difficult if you're fully prepared.

I thought there were 2 torment protection mutations for demonspawns? One gives a percentage-based resistance to Torment and the other gives full immunity to Torment, which is what my DSWz in v0.7 had.

I only play roguelikes for the challenge. Permanent death makes things more interesting. Removing it eliminates my only reason for playing them. The only reason I don't play online more often is because I like my current win streak.

Translocation miscasts can potentially cause banishment, but you could just enter a portal to the Abyss. Portals appear near the bottom of dungeon.

This has every game you've played. I haven't seen an online high score table that lists only (and all of) your games. Though, I don't play online often.

Add this to your init.txt (in your settings folder):

I think it's suppose to be similar to sickness. Preventing monsters from healing over time. The damage is never lethal iirc.

I won with a similar character back in 0.5. You can definitely win the game anytime you want. The storm spells will annihilate everything before they can touch you, just try to stay out of an orb of fire's LOS. Their fireballs are very accurate, and deadly due to your low HP and limited resistances.
